How to sell your car in Uganda without getting burned
The Car Market Hub · 2025-12-12 · 6 min read

Most losses in private vehicle sales are not mechanical, they are transactional. The car is genuine, the buyer is not, and the money either never arrives or arrives and is reversed.
Never release a logbook or keys against a screenshot of a transfer. Confirm cleared funds in your own account, or use an escrow arrangement where a third party holds the money until transfer is complete.
Meet at a public, covered location with cameras.
Complete the transfer of ownership on the same day as payment. An untransferred logbook leaves you liable for traffic offences and, in the worst cases, for what the vehicle is used for.
If you would rather not manage any of this, list through TCMH. We hold funds, verify the buyer and handle the transfer paperwork end to end.
